The Collection: Season 5

This season has not been announced or released; the disc makeup is theoretical based on what we already know of the range. Note that so far all photo galleries have been built for The Collection from scratch; the timings presented here relate to the SD versions on DVD and will likely be incorrect.

TME has resisted the temptation to turn this into an all-encompassing wishlist of bonus feature ideas; the list is restricted to items that have been previously officially released by BBC Studios and its predecessors.

Note that the newer animation releases have been placed over several discs, but this is largely due to capacity issues with the DVD versions (and a desire to share menu layouts with the BDs). Our logic for proposed disc layout is as follows:

  • Disc 1: Tomb of the Cybermen (1 disc; current release is 2x DVDs which could be combined)
  • Disc 2-3: The Abominable Snowmen (2 discs, current 3-disc BD is 86gb with two copies of surviving episode)
  • Disc 4: The Ice Warriors (1 disc; current release is 2x DVDs which could be combined)
  • Disc 5: The Enemy of the World (1 disc per current DVD)
  • Disc 6: The Web of Fear (1 disc; current 2-disc BD is 59.2gb but includes The Missing Years which could be moved elsewhere)
  • Discs 7-8: Fury from the Deep (2 discs; current 3-disc BD is 120.2gb but could be compressed down a little)
  • Discs 9: The Wheel in Space (2 discs, not yet released in any format)

  • Tombwatch is a cutdown version of a VHS release by Domnitemporal Services. Rights issues prevented it from being used in the Special Edition, however DSL have provided material for The Collection, so it can be expected that either the cutdown or full versions may appear on Season 5.
  • Proposed moving Unused Title Sequence to The Macra Terror.
  • Proposed moving The Final End to Evil of the Daleks.
  • Proposed moving Cybermen to The Tenth Planet.
  • Coming Soon: The Face of Evil (from the SE) moved to Season 14.
