This was the ninth season released, on 28th June 2021 (after a one-week delay) in the UK. It was reissued on 13 February 2023 in standard packaging, with a shorter booklet.
Sources
All episodes originate from their PAL 1″ masters, with the credit sequences rebuilt using the raw SD masters, and model inserts for all stories except Paradise Towers sourced from film originals.

On DVD, Dragonfire was paired up with The Happiness Patrol in a set entitled Ace Adventures. With the exception of Delta, all of these releases took place after the change of BBC logo, and had reversable sleeves to show the older white BBC logo, enabling fans to have a matching set with other older release. Time and the Rani also appeared in the June 2013 Regeneration set.
Summary
Original text commentaries were by Stephen James Walker (Time and the Rani), David Brunt (Paradise Towers, revised here jointly with Martin Wiggins), Andrew Pixley (Delta and the Bannermen, replaced here by one from Martin Wiggins) and Paul Scoones (Dragonfire).
Grouped on Behind the Sofa are:
- Bonnie Langford, Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred
- Sarah Sutton, Peter Davison and Janet Fielding
- Colin Baker and Michael Jayston
Due to COVID restrictions, all participants were separated by plastic screens during filming.
All episodes include original mono audio, 5.1 remixes (all new) and for the broadcast episodes isolated scores (all new, except Dragonfire, which had appeared on the DVD although was mono there but correctly stereo here). The Time and the Rani Part One isolated score is presented here in mono, but the remaining thirteen episodes are stereo. The broadcast version of Paradise Towers also includes an alternate score by David Snell, originally present on the DVD.
