The Collection: Season 4

This season has not been announced or released; the disc makeup is theoretical based on what we already know of the range. Note that so far all photo galleries have been built for The Collection from scratch; the timings presented here relate to the SD versions on DVD and will likely be incorrect.

TME has resisted the temptation to turn this into an all-encompassing wishlist of bonus feature ideas; the list is restricted to items that have been previously officially released by BBC Studios and its predecessors.

Note that the newer animation releases have been placed over several discs, but this is largely due to capacity issues with the DVD versions (and a desire to share menu layouts with the BDs). Our logic for proposed disc layout is as follows:

  • Disc 1: The Smugglers (1 disc, not yet released in any format)
  • Disc 2: The Tenth Planet (1 disc as per DVD)
  • Discs 3-4: Power of the Daleks (2 discs; current BD is 108.4gb and contains some generic Troughton material that could be moved to Season Six).
  • Disc 5: The Highlanders (1 disc, not yet released in any format)
  • Disc 6-7: The Underwater Menace (2 disc; current BD is 70gb)
  • Disc 8: The Moonase (1 disc as per DVD)
  • Disc 9: The Macra Terror (1 disc; current BD is 61gb – not including the Gridlock disc – which could be further compressed to a single disc)
  • Discs 10: The Faceless Ones (1 disc; current BD is 86.7gb but includes two copies of the surviving episodes)
  • Discs 11-12: The Evil of the Daleks (2 discs; current BD is 119.5gb but includes two copies of the surviving episode)

The standard reissues have been in cases that only support 10 discs, suggesting some creativity might need to be used to remove a disc from the about layout – perhaps combining The Highlanders and The Underwater Menace.

Proposed clean title sequence moved to An Unearthly Child. The inclusion of the 2016 animation is unlikely as the animators consider it to be superceded by the 2020 version, and similarly the 2005 telesnap reconstruction.
