Released October 31st 2002, the 48th special issue of cult TV magazine TV Zone (which itself had had a lengthy history with Who - the original editor being Jan-Vincent Rudzki, and the very first issue featuring Sylvester McCoy on the cover) was a look back at TV throughout 2002, featuring items on brand new shows 24, Alias, Enterprise and Smallville, and also on still running hits such as Buffy and The X-Files. Tieing in with the release of Resurrection of the Daleks 2 weeks later, TV Zone (in conjunction with its stablemate Ultimate DVD) featured a VCD coverdisc of Part One, and several of the bonuses. The special issue was available with two different covers - one highlighting Enterprise star Scott Bakula, the other Andromeda's Kevin Sorbo - the VCD was only available with the Enterprise issue, presumably in the hopes of cutting costs down since both issues cost the same, so Visual Imagination's ploy meant that only those interested in the coverdisc (or Enterprise!) would purchase the one with the free gift.

The issue itself also included a 3-page photo feature (12 photos) on the story, and a DVD-style cover that could be cut out and placed in a case with the disc. As with many other coverdiscs, prices were kept to a minimum by simply inserting the disc into a thin plastic sleeve to glue to the cover.

Following a 15" copyright warning in lurid green, the disc then leads to a 9" animated version of the Visual Imagination (the publishers of TV Zone and Ultimate DVD) logo and then into a 25" introduction by Deputy Group Editor Jan Vincent-Rudzki, filmed in the same area Matthew Robinson was filmed in for the On Location featurette.

"Hello, and welcome to this TV Zone special coverdisc. I'm standing near London Bridge where the BBC recorded its 1984 Doctor Who story Resurrection Of The Daleks. They also shot, very recently, the extras for the BBC DVD release of this story, and we're going to show you some extracts from those extras."

This intro, along with the rest of the disc, features a watermark in the bottom-right reading 'www.visimag.com'. After the Vincent-Rudzki intro, the disc flashes up a text intro for 5" before leading into the first 5'02" of the On Location featurette from the Resurrection DVD. We then return to Jan for another link (0'10"):

"And apart from the specially shot extras, on the DVD you'll also find a programme which features some of the people involved in the making of that story back in 1984."

Another 5" text screen then leads to the first of the two Breakfast Time interviews, with John Nathan-Turner and Janet Fielding (4'59"). We then return to Jan Vincent-Rudzki for a final link (0'07"):

"And now part one of Resurrection of the Daleks."

There is then one last text screen (distinctly flashier than the previous two) before the entire first episode. Jan then finishes the disc with an advert:

"Well! If you want to find out how the Doctor defeats the Daleks, and in fact what the Daleks are really up to, then you're going to have to buy the BBC DVD release of this story. And that's it I'm afraid, so it's goodbye for now. Bye!"

This lasts 0'27" and segues into a final logo.
