The Visitation

England, 1666 - the darkest days of the Great Plague. When the Doctor and his companions step from the TARDIS into a land gripped by fear and mistrust, they soon discover that they are not the only new arrivals. Cover by Pete Wallbank. Following The Sontaran Experiment/Genesis of the Daleks, this was the second time a two-part story was released on VHS, and the decision was taken to marry Black Orchid with its nearest lengthier neighbour - The Visitation. Later, The Rescue/The Romans and The Awakening/Frontios would follow suit.

Cover by Clayton Hickman for UK/Aus. At the last minute, the Davison picture was replaced with a mirrored version of the one used in the "circle", and the colouring throughout was changed - this was not done at Hickman's behest, and many prefer the original version, far right. To the near-right is a very early version, with a much poorer design all-round.

Restoration Notes

The D3 copies of the original quads created in the mid-90s were used as the basis of this release: After being run through the transform PAL decoder, dropouts were cleaned up with Scratchbox and the credit sequences recreated. Mark Ayres, as usual, provided an audio restoration.
